The Whitsunday bareboat yacht charter fleet of Charter Yachts Australia, is situated at Abel Point Marina Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays Queensland, offering you a well maintained fleet of bareboat skipper yourself charter yachts (sailboats), sailing catamarans and power catamarans for you to discover all the magic of sailing the Whitsunday Islands for yourself.

Bareboat means skipper yourself, and a Whitsunday bareboat charter holiday allows you to become the captain of your very own Whitsunday bareboat charter boat. You are able to tailor your Whitsunday holiday itinerary to suit yourself, and with 74 islands to choose from in the Whitsunday Island Group, each one will offer you something different.

A Whitsunday bareboat sailing holiday can be as active or relaxing as you want. Take a walk on a deserted tropical beach, snorkel the many coral reef systems that surround each of the Whitsunday islands, visit Hamilton Island and take your pick of activities or dine in one of their many top class restaurants.

The Whitsunday Islands make the perfect sailing holiday choice as you are protected from the ocean swells by The Great Barrier Reef, making it quite safe for any level of experience. Choose from Beneteau, Catalina, Seawind and many more quality bareboat designs in our Whitsunday boat hire charter fleet.

Boating Experience

You don't need to be a Whitbread veteran but it is preferable that at least one of your bareboating party have some knowledge of boat handling, anchoring and use of navigational aids. On your day of departure you will be thoroughly briefed on the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, anchorages and navigating around, familiarisation with the vessel and assistance on planning your itinerary. Briefings commence at 8:30 AM and usually last about 4 hours or until both parties feel comfortable. Twice daily radio schedules will be conducted to advise you of weather, location and proposed movements. Suggested reading prior to arrival to enhance your holiday and assist planning your sailing adventure is 100 Magic Miles.

Daily Cruising Period

The marine board permits our vessels to operate from daybreak. Please note that it is a requirement, for safety reasons, that you have anchored by 4:00 PM each day.

What to Bring

The essentials to bring on your bareboat sailing charter in the Whitsundays are heaps of sunscreen, sunglasses, broad rimmed hat, swimsuit, shorts, T-Shirts, deckshoes and an old pair of sandshoes. Include a smart casual outfit for resort visits. During the cooler months include warmer trousers and a light sweater or tracksuit. As storage is limited, use soft fabric luggage bags. Avoid wearing hard leather or black soled shoes and coconut based tanning oil. Snorkelling equipment is on board but if you prefer your own gear, bring them along with your favourite CDs.
